10 Most Expensive Sunglasses In The World

10 Most Expensive Sunglasses In The World

Some use it as a necessity, others wear it as an assertion of their individuality. In some cases, sunglasses combine functionality and fashion. But for those whose pockets are deep, wallets are thick, and those who have an attachment for extravagance, sunglasses are not just accessories – they are symbols that announce their wearers’ wealth and social status.

Here’s a list of 10 most expensive sunglasses to add panache to your wardrobe!

1.Chopard Sunglasses – $400,000

1a

Sporting a price tag near half a million dollars, Chopard Sunglasses have the chops to justify the figure. First, the eyepiece is crusted with 51 full cut river diamonds that are strategically placed on the frame to make them easily visible. The arms are fashioned from solid 24k karat gold. If you want a pair of sunglasses that scream luxury and lavishness, you can’t go wrong with this one.

2.Dolce and Gabbana DG2027B sunglasses – $383,000

2b

Dolce and Gabbana is a powerhouse in the high end fashion industry, so it is not surprising if they came up with a pair of sunglasses only meant for a few. Codenamed DG2027B, this pair of luxurious sunglasses flaunts an authentic gold frame. To make it more aesthetically appealing, Dolce and Gabbana decided to pair the frame with brown lenses.

3.Shiels Emerald Sunglasses – $200,000

3c

Shiels Jewelers, a renowned name in the jewelry business, crafted a pair of high-end sunglasses with lenses made of emeralds. You might wonder how you might be able to see through the green lenses. Well, the jewellers use relatively thin sheets of emeralds, which enable you to see clearly. Aside from emeralds, adding value to the eyepiece is a frame fashioned from a series of gold wire.

4.Cartier Panthere Glasses – $159,000

4d

As the name suggests, the Cartier Panthere is named for its panther accents placed on the each side of the eyepiece. But these panther pieces are not just mere decoration. They are made of 18-karat white gold, including the whole frame. On top of that, this eyewear is littered with 561 cut diamonds and 645 brilliantly cut blue sapphires. To make the eyewear a bit more justified for its price, you have to specifically place an order for the lenses as well.

5.CliC Gold 18 Carat Gold Sport Sunglasses – $75,000

5e

CliC Gold was founded by Ron Lando, who has been in the eyewear business for over 35 years. After once designing the most expensive reading glasses in the world, in 2012 he teamed up with internationally renowned jewelry designer Hugh Power to create these, the world’s most expensive sports sunglasses. Each piece is handmade and takes 40 to 50 hours to complete. Everything from the screws and the frame to the nose pads, is made from solid gold, making them wildly impractical. The lenses go through a special grind process using the Carl Zeiss Super ET Anti-Reflective coating on the back, and CliC even patented a magnetic front connection system on the bridge. Only 100 pairs were ever produced

6.Luxuriator Canary Diamond Glasses – $65,000

6f

Parading a frame that is plated in 18k gold, the Luxuriator Canary Diamond Glasses are also accentuated by paved diamonds that give this pair of sunglasses its regal look. The dark brown toned lenses blend well with the gold frame, further adding to the Luxuriator Diamond Glasses’ appeal.

7.Maybach “The Diplomat I” – $60,000

7g

Maybach-Manufaktur was a Germany luxury car brand established in 1909. After trying to be a profitable rival to Rolls Royce and Bentley for over a decade, the company ceased to be a brand in 2013. They released these snazzy sunglasses some years back to commemorate one of their vehicles. Only 50 pieces of the limited edition Diplomat I were made, each with 18 carat yellow gold frames and 174 hand-crafted diamonds totalling 1.18 carats surrounding the body. The temples were handcrafted from natural buffalo horn in tortoise colour, and they’re ennobled with the MAYBACH logo. The lenses are Carl Zeiss polarized.

8.Bulgari Flora Sunglasses – $59,000

8h

The frame of Bulgari’s Flora Sunglasses is fashioned from 18k karat white gold and in the frame are diamonds and blue sapphires. Completing the sunglasses’ aesthetics is a series of small aquamarine accents. A $25,000 option is available for those who find the price steep. However, that would mean less gold and less diamond.

9.Gold and Wood 253 Diamond Glasses – $55,000

9i

Another exquisite eyepiece from Gold and Wood, the 253 Diamond Glasses contains 253 high grade brilliant diamonds. 22 of these precious stones are princess-cut diamonds, which enhances the eyepiece’s very heavy price tag.

10.Bentley Platinum Sunglasses – $45,276

10j

Bentley Motors Limited is best known as the high-end British luxury automaker, producing some of the most bespectacled and expensive cars in the world. Founded in 1919 by W.O. Bentley, the company was acquired by Rolls-Royce in 1931. A few years back they released 100 of these slick, limited edition shades to complement their luxury car entitled the “Lausanne.” Made from pure platinum, these babies go for just over $45,000, but if you don’t want to completely break the bank, you can acquire lower priced models in rose, yellow, or white gold for $14,000.

This sure is a very cool way to beat the heat!
