This refreshing thirst-quencher is a crowd-pleaser at lazy Sunday brunches, kitty parties and even game viewing parties. The recipe is almost too easy; Whiskey Sours can be made using just a shaker and plenty of ice. Just mix the ingredients— Bourbon, lemon juice, sugar syrup and egg whites— and give ’em a good ol’ shake to get that tangy sweet and sour kick. A few teaspoons of egg white will add some froth and give a nice creamy texture to the drink. Pop an orange slice on top and say cheers!

#2 Bloody Mary

What You Need

  • Vodka
  • Worcestershire Sauce
  • Hot Pepper Sauce (i.e. Tabasco)
  • Tomato Juice
  • Celery Stalk
  • Olives
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Ice Cubes

giphy (28)

This oldie but goodie never goes out of style and remains a hot favourite, be it at your grandmother’s birthday or a wedding reception. This is also perhaps the most popular daytime cocktail – especially for brunches – next to mimosas by far. Kick things off by salting the rim of a tall glass and filling it up with ice cubes. Using a cocktail shaker, vigorously mix the ingredients— vodka, tomato juice, Worcestershire sauce, and Tabasco sauce— and strain into the glass. Sprinkle salt and pepper as per your requirement. Garnish with a celery stalk and olives on a toothpick, and you’re ready to party!

#3 Apple, Carrot and Ginger Cocktail

What You Need

  • Vodka
  • Apple Juice
  • Carrot Juice
  • Ginger Slices
  • Lime Wheel

giphy (26)

This one’s for the health buffs out there. If you want to party hard this weekend but feel guilty about all that alcohol consumption and skipping gym the next morning, the healing properties of carrot combined with ginger is exactly what the doctor ordered. Muddle the ginger at the bottom of the glass, and pour the mixture of vodka, apple juice and carrot juice into it. Give it a good shake, add some ice, and garnish with a wheel of lime. Delish!

Psst…ginger will do wonders for your health as it is known to ease headaches, calm upset stomachs, and cure stubborn colds. So don’t worry, and drink up!

#4 Monte Carlo

What You Need

  • Gin
  • Champagne
  • Crème de Menthe
  • Lemon Juice
  • Mint Leaf

Throwing a casino-themed soiree? There’s nothing like an assortment of mouth-watering beverages and entrées to make sure your guests are having a good time gambling and being merry. Sample this sweet, minty-fresh concoction that will keep your guests glued to the poker table all night! On the plus side, the bright green colour is a sight for sore eyes and doubles as the go-to drink for St. Patrick’s Day celebrations as well.

Simply stir lemon juice and gin into a glass and ice it up. Top off the mixture with champagne, and carefully add a splash of Crème de menthe. Then garnish with a mint leaf and you’re good to go!

#5 Poker Face

What You Need

  • Tequila
  • Triple Sec
  • Pineapple Juice
  • Lime Wedge
  • Ice Cubes

giphy (19)

No, we’re not talking about Lady Gaga’s catchy chartbusting single. This  casino-cocktail is a big hit at gambling parties and is deliciously refreshing to the taste buds. Just combine shots of tequila, triple sec and pineapple juice as required, and add a dash of lemon for that extra zing! Whip up some ice in a tall glass, pour the blend in and serve your drink chilled. You can spice things up by garnishing your Poker Face with pretty umbrellas or fruits for that poolside vacation vibel!

Once you’ve mastered the basics of mixing drinks, there is a plethora of cocktails to choose from—Mojito, Pina Colada, Sex on the Beach, Long Island Iced Tea, Old Fashioned and Cosmopolitan are just the tip of the iceberg. Remember, the secret is to focus on two key spirits and use lots of ice to keep the drink cold. Later, when you’re feeling adventurous, go ahead and try out some complicated mixtures and blend your own unique creation!
