Cool just got cooler, and we don’t merely mean the temperature inside the ice rink that we are about to show you.
On close inspection, the above picture doesn’t really look like your average ice skating rink. That’s because it isn’t. This is London’s first LED ice skating rink. What makes it special? That’s a good question and one that we have all the answers to.
Luminosity, which just happens to be the name of the ice rink, has approximately 8kms of LED lights laid beneath the ice. All in all, that makes for 500,000 LED lights present in this rink! And what do these 500,000 LED lights do? Well, they make for one mesmerizing once in a lifetime experience (unless of course you choose to visit every other day). The ice rink showcases more than 16 million different colours every session to create a truly magical skating experience for all skaters. The futuristic design and lights of Luminosity are coupled with synchronized music to add to the ambience.
Luminosity however, isn’t just all about the Daft Punk vibes to which you can skate to, there’s much more to it. Post skating, one can hangout at the heated terrace which not only has an on-site bar but also provides savouries that you can relish once you kick your skates off. We are talking along the lines of slow roast lamb and toasted waffles. Now that truly is the cherry on top of an otherwise niche experience! What’s even better is that in the vicinity of the rink, there are about 300 shops, cafes, bars and restaurants.
If skating isn’t for you, then you can visit the rink merely to see the unique atmosphere that it provides in the glass galleries which overlook the skating area. Rest assured whether you enjoy skating or not, this is one experience that is bound to leave a mark on you.
Ticket prices for this scintillating experience come at a cheaper price than one would expect- with prices ranging from £14.5 for adults to £10.5 for children per hour.
Luminosity is located in the Canary Wharf area in London, which is also reputed to be one of the U.K’s two main financial centres, along with the traditional City of London.
When visiting Luminosity, be prepared for an hour that you will definitely look back on with satisfaction for the rest of your life.
